The Mijs is a design of three different Balinese offering baskets with lids, with a bamboo base covered in white and black beads in a checkered pattern, consisting of Small (12x12x12cm), Medium (17x17x17cm) and Large (20x20x20cm). The black-and-white checkered pattern is the purest, sharpest chessboard: white squares next to black squares with no warm undertone. The contrast is maximal, the recognition immediate. Each bead is either bright white or deep black, no nuance, no compromise. The lid bears the same chessboard pattern, and when closed, the basket becomes a complete monochrome graphic object that looks like a design classic.
